Editorial Services
My favorite thing to do is revise. I realize I am strange in this regard as so many writers hate killing darlings. I relish killing darlings, if it’s in service of the story. Once a friend in a writer’s group got me a scissors charm because I love cutting a piece down to its most essential parts.
If you have a finished draft, I can read and offer you feedback on the story. To be clear, I am not a copy editor. I am a story editor.

A clear sentence is no accident. Very few sentences come out right the first time, or even the third time. Remember this in moments of despair. If you find that writing is hard, it's because it is hard.

Developmental Editing for Personal Essay & Fiction
Story problems are overwhelming. Often writers find themselves in a terrible loop writing and rewriting the same story, unable to understand why their work isn't landing with agents or editors. (I speak from experience). I offer detailed developmental edits on every page of completed manuscripts. This includes a developmental edit letter which outlines solutions I see to solving the problems in your story. I never identify issues in a story without also offering solutions. Typically, after just a few conversations following my edit with a client during which we pitch ideas, the writer leaves not only feeling confident with a new game plan, but also excited to tackle their story again.
Non-Fiction Book Proposal Creation
By the time you finish reading a nonfiction book proposal, you should be on pins and needles, desperate to read the entire book. If you've figured out the nuts and bolts of the nonfiction book you want to write, but don't know how to organize the details into a compelling, heart-pounding proposal, I can help you write one that foreshadows a gripping manuscript. I'm also available to ghostwrite.
Jennifer helped me put together a solid book proposal that ultimately helped me land a dream agent.
