Make Noise and Be Unique:
A One-Week Creative & Empowerment Workshop for Girls
Jennifer is launching a one-week creativity and empowerment workshop for girls ages 10 and 11 in Eagle Rock.
At a time when so many youth activities focus on achievement and perfection, this workshop is intentionally designed as a low-pressure space where girls can safely explore their creativity, celebrate their individuality, and support one another.
Inspired by the themes of Dickinson’s middle grade novel Maggie’s Big Break, the workshop combines writing, theater, movement, collage, mindfulness, and creative collaboration to help girls build confidence, empathy, and self-expression in a supportive, non-competitive environment.
The workshop will take place from August 3rd-7th at ART on Fig, and will culminate in a showcase of art and performance for family and friends on August 8th from 1-3pm. Extended day options will be available for families who need care beyond the standard 9am-3pm workshop day, and half-price tuition scholarships will be awarded to two select students.
In addition to author Dickinson’s guidance in writing, additional portions of the workshop will be led by accomplished instructors such as lifelong educator and Master of Education Maria Cox (theater/writing), former Tacoma Poet Laureate Kellie Richardson (collage/writing), somatic therapist and professional actor Lyssa Mandel (theater), and certified Pilates instructor of over 15 years Kate Gregory Richey (movement).
